New Orleans still lays in ruins five months after the hurricane Katrina. Today thousands of people who were being housed in hotels and other establishments are being evicted unless they have been approved for an extension. The money that has been promised is no where to be found. Meanwhile, billions are being sent to Iraq and Afghanistan, millions being stolen by unscrupulous contractors and local officials. Yet we can't help our own. This is yet another failure of the Bush administration, an embarrassment to this country, it's shameful. New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin, is securing foreign moneys for the rebuilding. Countries like France and Jordan are happy to invest in the rebuilding. Think of it, the most powerful country in the history of the world, unwilling to rebuild a storm damaged region and help it's own people. It's a travesty.

I don't get it. Where the hell are all those billions Bush promised to send down there? Did it go straight into his cronies' pockets for nothing?

it's sad, not to mention all the outside contractors that came in, hired illegal workers and shut out locals for much needed jobs.
